Last week, I had the pleasure of attending Ideas Fest. It was an inspiring celebration of creativity, courage and entrepreneurship. It was an honour to hear some of the amazing stories that were shared by the people who had the idea and how it came to them. Most highly personal and gave me goose bumps.
What impressed me most was hearing the stories behind each successful business. Every business began in the same way. It started as an idea in someone’s mind.
An idea can feel small, uncertain or even crazy. It might come to you while travelling to work, talking to a friend or lying awake at night. You may feel excited about it. Then doubt begins to appear. You might ask yourself, “Am I capable of doing this?” “What if it does not work?” or “What will other people think?”
As a hypnotherapist, I understand how powerful our thoughts and beliefs can be. Our minds can encourage us to move forward and it's an excellent idea, and simultaneously, it can create fear and doubt.
Often, people are not held back by a lack of talent or ability. They are held back by the belief that they are not ready or experienced enough. They may think success is something that happens to other people.
Ideas Fest reminded me that successful people do not begin with all the answers. They begin with an idea and a willingness to take the first step. Jon Walsh #Bio&Me, and #Sir Greg Jackson CEO of Octopus Energy, and #Frankie James #IdeasFest founder.
They learn as they go. They make mistakes, change direction and ask for help. Most importantly, they continue.
The event was filled with people who had taken an idea from their mind and brought it into the world. Some had created products. Others had developed services, built communities or found new ways to solve everyday problems.
A good idea needs more than positive thinking. It needs planning, action and patience. It also needs the strength to keep going when things do not happen as quickly as expected. Before any of this can happen, you must believe that your idea deserves a chance.. It simply needs a beginning. Anything is possible!

I’ve just returned from a wonderful holiday in Portugal, and I’m reminded again of how important it is to step away from our usual routines.
I feel refreshed, energised and clearer-minded. A different environment, new experiences, more time outdoors and the opportunity to learn and explore have helped me return with a renewed sense of perspective.
From a hypnotherapist’s point of view, regular breaks are not simply an indulgence. They are an important part of looking after our mental and emotional wellbeing.
When we remain in the same routine for too long, particularly when life is busy, the mind can stay in a constant state of doing, planning and problem-solving. Even when we appear to be coping, stress can quietly accumulate.
Taking a break gives the nervous system an opportunity to slow down. It allows the mind to reset, creates space for new ideas and helps us reconnect with the things that make us feel calm, curious and alive.
Of course, a restorative break doesn’t have to mean travelling abroad. It could be a weekend away, a day exploring somewhere new, time spent in nature, visiting a friend, or trying a different activity. Simply taking a few days at home WITHOUT your normal demands, will give you breathing space.
What matters is creating a genuine change of pace and giving yourself permission to pause.
Rather than waiting until you feel exhausted, consider planning regular breaks throughout the year. Having something enjoyable in the diary can itself lift your mood and help you manage busy periods more positively.
Portugal gave me sunshine, new surroundings, learning, laughter and a welcome change of routine. But the greatest benefit was the chance to stop, breathe and return feeling renewed.
Rest is not wasted time. Sometimes, stepping away is exactly what helps us come back stronger.

Sleep Mindset
How Much Sleep Do You Actually Need?
I see hundreds of clients with various sleep issues. Insomnia, walking up during the night, can’t sleep from noises, from stress, from worry, from anxiety.
Sleep deprivation can have a huge impact on our health, but part of the problem is often down to our outlook on the subject.
It’s interesting (and proven) that if we change our perception on below, our sleep mindset will improve.
• Your outlook on how many hours you really need. Recalibrate expectations can in itself reduce worry and expectations.
• Waking up extra early and getting yourself right out of bed (vs lay in) and get some exercise.
• Reminder that we can easily function in life without a magic number of hours sleep
• Stop thinking about sleep hours before going to bed. Listen to your body.
• Develop a simple nighttime routine conducive to sleep. Nighttime yoga routine, no electrics, bath. etc
Which one will you choose to change?
If you worry less about it, you will have a more positive outlook, more energy, cope better and your day will be so much more enjoyable. Sleep well. Mg

Turns out you don't need a reason to smile, you just need to start.
The simple act of smiling, even on purpose, sends your brain the same "all is well" signal as genuine joy. It's a mood shortcut hiding in plain sight.
Three ways to find that smile today:
1. Think of one small good thing you love, like your morning coffee, a song, exercise, a memory that still makes you laugh.
2. Catch your reflection and hold it for 10 seconds. Fake it and watch it turn real.
3. Send someone a kind message and their reply will bring the smile right back to you. Your smile doesn't need permission. Give yourself one today. 💛
